Write For Us

The Literary Compass welcomes thoughtful writing about books, authors, reading, and the ideas that literature leaves behind. We are interested in pieces that help readers discover something worth their time, whether that is a classic novel, a new release, a useful reading habit, or a fresh way to think about a familiar author.

What We Publish

We consider book reviews, author profiles, literary essays, reading lists, book-to-screen commentary, and practical guides for readers and writers. Strong submissions are clear, specific, and written for a general audience. We prefer work that has a point of view without becoming hostile or overly academic.

Submission Guidelines

Please send original work only. A typical article should be organized with a clear introduction, useful headings, and a conclusion that gives the reader a reason to keep thinking. Avoid thin summaries, copied publisher descriptions, and pieces written only for search engines.

How to Reach Us

To pitch an idea, send a short summary of the proposed article, a working title, and any relevant writing samples to [email protected]. We review submissions with care and look for writing that feels aligned with the tone of the site.

We are especially interested in contributors who read widely, explain generously, and believe that literature should feel open rather than intimidating.
